Bert Leeser, 98 of Muskego, WI died peacefully on February 14, 2024. She was born on January 15, 1926, to Richard and Mae Miller in Tomah. Bert received her sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tomah. She grew up on farms: Indian Creek and then a farm north of Tomah near Hwy 12. She graduated from high school in 1944.
Bert went to a college in Milwaukee. She met Charles Leeser in Milwaukee and they married on December 31, 1946, in Tomah. They were married until July 1980 when Charles died. They bought a house on Milwaukee's south side near 20th and Howard. They had 4 children: Jean, Jerry, Jan and Jim. She stayed home and raised the children until 1968. She took on a part-time job that year working in the stationary cards department at the Boston Store in downtown Milwaukee until 1986 when she retired.
Bert liked to garden, tend to her flower beds, sewing her bunny rabbits, attend craft shows, spending time with her children, listening to the Brewers (Bob Uecker) and other sports on the radio. Later she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jean Leeser, Jerry (Katie) Leeser, and Fr. Jim Leeser. She has five grandchildren: Todd Leeser (Pattie), Amy (Craig) Erwin, Julie (Brian) Witt, Andrew (Katie) Lepkowski, and Joe Leeser. She had 5 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Blake, Dylan, Eva, and Fiona. She is further survived by a son-in-law: Mark Lepkowski, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1980, her daughter, Jan Lepkowski in 2003, her sisters, Berniece Helming, Bernieta Pasch, Mabel Bernhardt, and her brother, William, her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 19th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 5571 S. Marilyn St. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
